Even the best campaign needs promotion. Use the STEPS framework to reach more donors and keep momentum going.
S — Social Media
Share across every platform you're active on:
- Facebook — Post to your personal profile, use Stories for time-sensitive pushes, and ask friends to share with their networks
- Instagram — Use compelling images, Stories with your link in bio, and Reels for behind-the-scenes content
- Twitter/X — Pin your campaign to your profile and share milestones
- LinkedIn — Great for reaching church leadership and professional networks
T — Text Everyone
Don't overlook direct conversation. Tell everyone about your campaign, practice a brief elevator pitch, and carry a QR code to your campaign page. Personal outreach drives the most donations — 60-70% of crowdfunding gifts come from close friends and family.
E — Email Supporters
Email often converts better than social media. A few best practices:
- Send a standalone email (not buried in a newsletter)
- Use a clear subject line and their name
- Make a specific ask ("Would you consider $25?")
- Best days: Tuesday-Thursday, mid-morning
Personalized one-on-one emails outperform mass emails every time.
P — Progress Updates
Keep donors in the loop as your campaign moves forward:
- Share milestone updates ("We're halfway there!")
- Post impact stories as they happen
- Create urgency near your deadline
- Request church bulletin mentions or pulpit time when appropriate
S — Say Thank You
Always thank before you ask again. Some supporters can't give financially — invite them to share your campaign, forward your email, or write a prayer on your campaign page. Every act of support matters.
What to Track
Pay attention to which posts get engagement, which emails get opened, and where donations are coming from. Double down on what's working.
