What Makes a Donation Tax-Deductible?
For a donation to be tax-deductible, it must be made to a:
- Verified 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization - Including Churches and denominations
All campaigns on HopeGives are created with the oversight of a registered 501(c)(3) organization.
Receiving Your Tax Receipt
For eligible donations, tax receipts are automatically:
- Emailed immediately after each donation
- Stored in your HopeGives account
- Compiled into year-end statements
What's Included on Tax Receipts
Each receipt contains:
- Organization's legal name
- Tax ID (EIN)
- Organization's address
- Donation amount
- Date of donation
- Statement that no goods or services were received in exchange
- Your name and address
Year-End Giving Statements
In January, you can download a comprehensive statement showing all tax-deductible donations from the previous year. This single document can be used for tax filing.
How to Access
- Log into your HopeGives account
- Go to My Reports in the drop down menu
- Choose the tax year
- Download your statement as a CSV or PDF
