Tax Receipts & Deductions

Understanding tax-deductible donations and receipts.

HopeGives provides tax receipts for donations made to qualified tax-exempt organizations.

What Makes a Donation Tax-Deductible?

For a donation to be tax-deductible, it must be made to a:

  • Verified 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization - Including Churches and denominations

All campaigns on HopeGives are created with the oversight of a registered 501(c)(3) organization.

Receiving Your Tax Receipt

For eligible donations, tax receipts are automatically:

  • Emailed immediately after each donation
  • Stored in your HopeGives account
  • Compiled into year-end statements

What's Included on Tax Receipts

Each receipt contains:

  • Organization's legal name
  • Tax ID (EIN)
  • Organization's address
  • Donation amount
  • Date of donation
  • Statement that no goods or services were received in exchange
  • Your name and address

Year-End Giving Statements

In January, you can download a comprehensive statement showing all tax-deductible donations from the previous year. This single document can be used for tax filing.
